Standard 1.2: Program Description/Goals

The written description/goals of the program should be shared with potential students and should include admission requirements, employment potential, area(s) of specialty training offered, and the cost of all tuition and fees. Technical qualifications of the faculty and the overall goal(s) of the program should also be included.

Requirements:

  1. Rate the program material(s) available (brochure or catalog) on the inclusion of the following:
    1. Admission requirements
    2. Employment potential
    3. Areas of training offered
    4. Cost of tuition and fees
    5. Technical qualifications of the instructional staff
    6. Overall goals of the program
  2. Rate the availability of program materials for students prior to enrollment.

Recommended Documentation:

  • Documentation should include copies of school catalog, program documentation, advertisements, newspaper articles, and brochures. Tab specific sections with "sticky notes" and highlight written information which clearly communicates items listed under the first requirement above.
  • List requirements on separate page, indicating which document/page(s) provide information, for easy cross-referencing by evaluation team.
  • If program has a website, reference specific Web pages where information is stated.
  • Copies of each instructor's qualifications and educational background, including ASE certifications and state endorsements or certifications. Note where ASE certifications are displayed on site.
  • Statement explaining how and where program materials are made available to students both before and during program enrollment.
