Standard 2.3: Administrative Support

Positive administrative support from institutional and local governing bodies should be demonstrated. Indicators of administrative support would include: support for staff in-service training; provision of appropriate facilities; up-to-date tools, equipment, training support materials, and curriculum.

Requirements:

  1. Rate the administrative support that demonstrates that provisions have been made for instructors to return to industry for planned in-service and update training on a regular basis.
  2. Rate the administrative support in terms of providing necessary resources to ensure the program is supplied with adequate tools, equipment, and service publications required to meet program goals and objectives.
  3. Rate the administrative support for on-going curriculum development, review, and revision.
  4. Rate the extent to which the institution administration involves the program faculty in preparation of the annual budget.

Recommended Documentation:

  • Copies of in-service training session materials and certificates from update classes attended.
  • Statement from the school (if available) regarding school support for continuing education of the instructors. A copy of an instructor's contract may be appropriate.
  • Map of shop and tool facilities to assist team in on-site inspection for compliance with this standard.
  • Inventory of tools and equipment to assist team in on-site inspection for compliance with this standard.
  • List of service publications and other training support materials to assist team in on-site inspection for compliance with this standard.
  • Statement explaining the process by which the administration supports curriculum development and revision.
  • Statement explaining the process by which the administration solicits and incorporates input from staff in preparing the annual budget.
  • Minutes from collaborative meeting(s) between staff and administration, or other forms of communication.
