Standard 6.14: Evaluation of Instruction
Instructional procedures should be evaluated in a systematic manner. This evaluation should be through regular reviews by students and the administration. Self-evaluation of instruction should also be utilized on a systematic and regular basis. This system should include input from former students and the Advisory Committee members. Instructional procedures should show responsiveness to the feedback from these evaluations.
Requirements:
- Rate the use of a systematic program evaluation system to make decisions about program efficiency, effectiveness, and content.
- Rate the use of student input in the evaluation process.
- Rate the use of instructor(s) evaluations in the evaluation process.
- Rate the use of self-evaluation of instruction on a regular basis in the evaluation process.
- Rate the use of student follow-up data in the evaluation process.
- Rate the use of the Advisory Committee review in the evaluation process.
Recommended Documentation:
- Statement explaining how the instruction is evaluated. Include blank copies of evaluation forms and/or minutes from Advisory Committee evaluations.
- Statement explaining how the program is evaluated by the instructor, Advisory Committee, etc., on a regular basis. Include copies of any forms used.
- Statement explaining how and when students are invited to evaluate the program. If a student evaluation form is used, include a blank copy of it.
- Statement explaining who evaluates the instructors and how often. Explain also how an instructor self-evaluation is performed.
- Statement explaining how the information derived from the student follow-up system is considered in the program evaluation process. Cite specific examples in the last several years, if applicable.
- Statement explaining how Advisory Committee recommendations regarding the program are reviewed and considered in the evaluation process. Cite recent examples of recommendations which have been implemented, if any.
