Standard 6.9: Personal Characteristics
All training activities and instructional material should emphasize the importance of maintaining high personal standards.
Requirements:
- Rate the emphasis placed on the following in all training activities and instructional materials:
- The importance of maintaining good relationships with fellow employees
- Respect for fellow students' tools and other property
- The development of good customer relations
- Appropriate clothing similar to that found in local shops
- Student cleanliness to ensure seats, steering wheels, etc. are not greasy or damaged after the job is complete
- The use of fender covers
Recommended Documentation:
- Copy of the curriculum where importance of high personal standards is covered.
- Statement explaining how students are evaluated on professional conduct and appearance.
- If your school has an active chapter of Skills USA-VICA (Vocational Industrial Clubs of America) and if your program's students participate, you may want to reference the Skills USA-VICA "personal development program" materials. Explain how they are incorporated into the curriculum.
