Standard 7.2: Quantity and Quality
The tools and equipment used in the training program should reflect the program goals and performance objectives. Sufficient tools and equipment should be available for the training offered. The tools and equipment should meet industry quality standards.
Requirements:
- Rate the availability of the tools and equipment needed for instruction in the lab/shop area.
- Rate the quantity of tools and equipment in terms of the quantity needed for efficient and effective instruction.
- Rate the tools and equipment used in terms of meeting industry quality standards.
Recommended Documentation:
- Inventory of tools and equipment. Indicate location(s) to facilitate on-site inspection. (see NATEF Tools and Equipment List)
- Statement describing your program's policies regarding student access to tools and equipment.
- Statement describing your program's policies regarding the quantity of tools provided, relative to the number of students enrolled in the program. Indicate how often this policy is evaluated, and by whom. Describe the process for ordering additional tools. Explain how they determine that the tools and equipment used meet industry quality standards.
- Document the Advisory Committee's review of the quality of the tools and equipment.
