Standard 9.1: Technical Competency
Instructors must hold current ASE certification in the automobile areas they teach and which are being evaluated for program certification.
Requirements:
- Number of years full-time work experience as a general automotive technician. (Provide number for each instructor.)
- Number of years work experience as an automotive technician in the specialty area(s) taught. (Provide number for each instructor.)
- Number of years of education (or degrees earned) beyond high school that have been completed by the instructor. (Provide number for each instructor.)
- Do instructors hold current ASE certification in the automotive area(s) they teach? (Yes/No)
- General Service Technician Programs Only: Do Instructors hold current ASE certification in A4-Suspension and Steering, A5-Brakes, A6-Electrical/Electronic Systems and A8-Engine Performance? (Yes/No)
Recommended Documentation:
- For each instructor, prepare a statement indicating:
- instructional areas for which instructor is responsible
- number of years full-time work experience as a general automotive technician
- number of years work experience as an automotive technician in the specialty area(s) taught
- number of years of education (or degrees earned) beyond high school that have been completed by the instructor
- areas of current ASE certification
- For each instructor, provide a copy of their ASE Certificate.
