Instructors must hold current ASE certification in the automobile areas they teach and which are being evaluated for program certification.

Requirements:

  1. Number of years full-time work experience as a general automotive technician. (Provide number for each instructor.)
  2. Number of years work experience as an automotive technician in the specialty area(s) taught. (Provide number for each instructor.)
  3. Number of years of education (or degrees earned) beyond high school that have been completed by the instructor. (Provide number for each instructor.)
  4. Do instructors hold current ASE certification in the automotive area(s) they teach? (Yes/No)
  5. General Service Technician Programs Only: Do Instructors hold current ASE certification in A4-Suspension and Steering, A5-Brakes, A6-Electrical/Electronic Systems and A8-Engine Performance? (Yes/No)

Recommended Documentation:

  • For each instructor, prepare a statement indicating:
    • instructional areas for which instructor is responsible
    • number of years full-time work experience as a general automotive technician
    • number of years work experience as an automotive technician in the specialty area(s) taught
    • number of years of education (or degrees earned) beyond high school that have been completed by the instructor
    • areas of current ASE certification
  • For each instructor, provide a copy of their ASE Certificate.
